A robust stainless steel housing is downsized to a manageable and compact 43mm diameter marking it the first of its kind. Rhodium plated hands travel across a smooth black canvas stamped with the famous IWC lettering and a reference to its automatic movement at 6 o’clock. This men’s IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 communicates the time via an Arabic numeral hour track made visible through an anti reflective and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass front. On show through the back of the case is the meticulously crafted 82100 calibre, equipped with the company’s patented Pellaton winding system reinforced with ceramic components. Circular graining and Geneva stripes complete the intricate decorative finishes of this self winding movement, which provides a 60 hour power reserve once fully wound. The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 sits at a comfortable height of 13.6mm on the wrist. Its 100 meter water resistant case attaches to a set of smoothly curved lugs and a traditional brown calfskin leather strap. This supple band is embellished with off white contrast stitching down the sides, imparting a vintage inspired look. The calfskin strap of the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 secures to the wrist with a steel buckle but also incorporates IWC’s EasX CHANGE system for the effortless swapping over of straps from the IWC Schaffhausen accessories catalogue.
