Harnesses
Harnesses
— a specific type of equipment for dogs, which is a set of belts of a special design. In terms of purpose, such equipment is in many ways similar to a collar (see the relevant paragraph) — in particular, it is used to attach a leash. However, the harness is worn not on the neck, but on the body, covering the chest (sometimes also the stomach) and the back of the dog. One of the key advantages of this design is that the “harness” does not squeeze the neck and distributes the load more evenly — as a result, the animal is easier to breathe and move, and the likelihood of injury during sharp jerks is noticeably reduced. In models for small breeds, even their own handles for carrying a pet right in the harness can be provided; and products for large fighting and service dogs can be supplemented with weights (for more details, see "Types of collars").Among the disadvantages of such equipment, in addition to the relatively high cost, one can note a more complex size adjustment than in collars. In addition, when using a harness, it is more difficult to control the behavior of an untrained dog — in order to stop unwanted movement, you have to pull harder on the leash.
