Metal collars
— only collars are made of metal (see "Type"), it does not make sense to use this material in harnesses; in addition, this category includes various accessories (rings, carbines), which can be sold separately.
Metal collars usually look like chains of individual links. At the same time, the size and design of the links can be different: for example, decorative exhibition collars can be made of small parts (sometimes in several rows), in ordinary “walking” models the segments are quite large, and in strict metal collars (see “Types of collars ”), the role of the spikes is usually played by the ends of the links bent inward.
Anyway, the metal itself looks great, and it also has high strength. However, low-cost models often use relatively soft alloys, which can lead to collar breakage due to link extension. In addition, not all metal collars allow prolonged contact with water, some alloys tend to stain light wool. And the choice of such a product is associated with additional difficulties: when choosing a specific type of chain weaving, you need to take into account the length and other features of the wool (detailed recommendations on this matter can be found in special sources). Summing up everything written, we can say that a high-quality metal collar is a beautiful, but not cheap pleasure, and instead of a cheap model made of this material, it is better to buy a nylon product.
