Segmented cut blades
Segmented cut blade
— the term "segmented web" in this case can mean two types of nozzles. The first variety is accessories designed strictly for oscillatory instruments (such as renovators). In fact, such a blade is an analogue of a cutting disc that uses vibration rather than rotation during operation. A similar nozzle looks like a disk that lacks part of the cutting edge (about a third). Such devices are not as well suited for precision work as immersion blades, but they are better able to withstand high loads and long continuous use. This is achieved by ensuring that only a relatively small area of the cutting edge is in contact with the material, so by cycling through different areas, wear can be reduced and the chance of overheating can be reduced.
The second variety is segmented discs in the traditional sense of the word: cutting discs, the edge of which is made intermittent. The role of the delimiters is usually played by the gaps between the teeth increased in depth. Technically, such disks can be installed not only in oscillator instruments, but also in instruments that use rotation; however, in fact, compatibility with a particular unit should be clarified separately. And the segmented cutting edge is used to reduce the chance of overheating — this design contributes to additional cooling.
