Brushes for engravers
— nozzles in the form of brushes with a working part made of bristles or metal wire. They are intended mainly for tools that use rotation, and the intensity of processing and, accordingly, the purpose depends on the bristle material. So, nozzles with bristles are used mainly for relatively fine work — such as polishing and removing small burrs; and many of them are even suitable for processing jewelry. In turn, metal brushes provide a rougher effect; typical examples of their application are rust removal, finishing seams on metal, removal of insulation or scale from wires and terminals, etc.
The classic materials for metal brushes are stainless or carbon steel; the former better resists corrosion and reduces the likelihood of marks after processing, the latter is harder and better suited for stubborn materials. In addition, there are brass brushes — they are softer, due to which they are suitable for processing more delicate materials like copper or gold, and they also do not tend to spark, which can be important in conditions of increased fire danger.
Also note that brushes can be made both cone-shaped (with expanding bristles) and disc-shaped. The first variety is better suited for processing fairly large flat surfaces, the second for relatively precise work (such as cleaning seams without undue impact on the surface adjacent to them).
