Blue lamps

Blue lamps

— devices based on ordinary incandescent lamps, with bulbs painted in blue color. The blue lamp, also known as the Minin Reflector, is one of the earliest devices for physiotherapy - it appeared in the 19th century, but still remains popular today. The therapeutic effect of such a device is provided due to infrared radiation - in other words, due to heating. At the same time, blue lamps are less effective than specialized IR-lamps, but they are much cheaper.

Such devices are particularly popular for warming the ears and nose bridge in case of colds. One of the advantages of blue light in such applications is that it almost does not penetrate through closed eyelids and does not cause discomfort (although contact lenses in the eyes can get extremely hot, so it is better to remove them). However, the use of blue lamps is not limited to this: they are also good aids for bruises, sprains, arthritis and a number of other diseases of muscles and joints, some skin problems, etc.

There are two things to consider when using such devices. First, the Minin Reflector is exactly an auxiliary device, and to maximize the effect of heating should be combined with other methods of treatment. Secondly, the use of warming with a blue lamp can be recommended only by a doctor: such procedures have many contraindications.
