The plates are usually very small, making these valves very compact and suitable even for very tight spaces. However, the force required for turning, due to the small length of the plates, is quite high. Nevertheless, in some cases, even this moment is an advantage — it minimizes the likelihood of turning the tap by accidentally hitting it.
