CCD scanners
CCD element
— CCD (Charge-Coupled Device, charge-coupled device) is an optical system using a mirror, a lens and a fluorescent lamp for illumination. Such a scheme works with a greater depth of field than CIS — the CCD scanner does not have problems with wrinkled pages, book spreads, etc.; in addition, this type of element provides better colour reproduction than CIS. For these reasons, professional scanners tend to be CCD-based. On the other hand, such devices are heavier, bulkier and more expensive.Show
