Speaker stands
— devices for outdoor, occasionally — desktop installation of speakers.
In general, stands perform two functions: they improve the acoustic performance of the speakers (which is especially noticeable on acoustically uncomfortable surfaces), and they also allow you to raise the speakers to the level necessary for the desired sound quality (if the height of the speaker itself is not enough for this). The second function is especially relevant for home models (see "Purpose") — "home" acoustics often have a small body height and require placement on shelves or other stands. In turn, concert stands are most often equipped with height adjustment and can only be used as “improvers”, without significantly raising the speaker above the floor. In addition, products with different specializations differ markedly in design: home models usually resemble columns, complemented by a platform and a flat base, concert ones — tripods with a thin central rod and a folding tripod base.
Separately, it is worth noting that specialized racks are available for use with a central column (see the relevant paragraph), however, this possibility can also be provided in models from this category — as an optional option (see "Additional").
