Wooden speaker stands

— products made using wood — both completely wooden and with separate metal elements.

The term "wood" in this case most often means MDF — medium density fibreboard, a material based on compressed wood fibers. It is cheaper than natural wood, but practically does not concede to it in terms of practical and acoustic characteristics. However, specifically among furniture for acoustics and audio equipment, this option is quite rare — mainly due to the fact that MDF is still inferior to metal in terms of strength. Because of this, solid wood structures have to be made quite thick, which affects weight and price; but they are acquired mainly for reasons of aesthetics or for the sake of “soft and warm sound”, which is allegedly impossible to achieve from metal structures (however, this moment is associated more with self-hypnosis than with objective characteristics).

As for combined products, the addition of metal elements to wooden structures has a positive effect on strength. However, these elements may be different. For example, in Hi-Fi pedestals (see "Type") vertical supports are made of metal, and in racks there is both this and the opposite option — a metal platform and a base on a wooden column. However, in terms of other features, all such models do not have fundamental differences from solid wood ones.
