Conical bullets for airguns
Conical
— bullets with a characteristic pointed head. This form primarily contributes to an increase in flight range and penetrating action. But the stopping effect is quite low. In addition, such ammunition is considered somewhat less suitable for high-precision shooting than hemispherical ones (in particular, because with a conical shape it is somewhat more difficult to achieve perfect symmetry and balance of each bullet). However, this moment largely depends on the specific brand of bullets.
As for the overall shape, bullets of this type are most often made in the "diabolo" layout. Such an arrangement provides a narrowed middle part and a shank in the form of a characteristic “skirt” expansion: when fired, such a skirt expands somewhat and is pressed tightly into the rifling of the barrel (recall, all bullets were originally created specifically for rifled pneumatics). This ensures stable spin-up and a smooth trajectory in further flight. There are other variants of the general form (including the simplest cylindrical), but much less frequently.
