Bimetallic radiators

Bimetallic radiators

— radiators that combine two metals in their design: the tubes for the heating medium are made of steel (in rare cases, copper), and the rest of the structure is made of aluminium.

Bimetallic devices are considered the most advanced nowadays. They perfectly withstand high pressures (in some models — up to 30 bar even higher) and water hammers. These heaters are recommended for use in central heating systems of high-rise buildings (especially those above 9 floors). And the efficiency of such models is quite high.

The disadvantage of this design is traditional — a high price. Thus, so-called pseudo-bimetallic (semi-bimetallic) radiators can be found on the market — only vertical channels connecting the upper and lower pipes are made of steel. It allows you to reduce the price, but it negatively affects reliability — in terms of operational features, such devices are closer to aluminium ones (see the relevant paragraph). So if the selected model from this category has a suspiciously low cost compared to other products made from the same materials, it is worth clarifying whether it belongs to pseudo-bimetallic.
