Trays Oka

Our Talasa Tray is named after the Greek word for 'sea', in homage to its undulating edge that resembles a wave. The shape is based upon an antique tray, reimagined in handwoven rattan and coated with more→a lacquer for protection.

This handmade, decorative piece features a gently curving edge that's enhanced by hand-painted brushed gold details. On its surface is our much-loved Areca palm leaf pattern, so it ties in wonderfully more→with the other pieces from the Areca Range, or holds its own solo. Its base is painted black so that its natural-coloured surface really stands out. The details are hand painted by a small group of talented artisans led by a master painter who has honed their craft over many generations to produce

The beautiful and unusual grain of our Evelyn Oval Tray is produced from highly sought-after burl wood - this is a cross section of the knots that form on trees, and so features a swirling pattern ref more→erred to as a 'wild grain', that requires highly skilled craftsmen in order to cut it without splitting the wood. Due to the material and artisanal techniques used to craft this piece, each will have individual characteristics that add to their charm.
