Ceteris paribus, a disc is better than a milling cutter in coping with strong dense materials, making a cut of a certain length faster and allowing you to cut to a greater depth. On the other hand, the slot from the disk turns out to be very narrow — a few millimetres; so to create a wide strobe or groove, you need to make two slots, and then select the material between them (for example, using a rotary hammer).
