Air pistols with scope mount
— the presence of a mount for an additional sight in the design of the weapon.
Such mounts are located in the upper part of the device and are intended primarily for optical and collimator sights. The most popular type of sight mounts in short-barreled pneumatics is the Weaver / Picatinny rail: it has a T-shaped profile and characteristic transverse slots for rigid fixation of installed accessories. Formally, Weaver and Picatinny rails are different types of seats; however, most sights available on the civilian market are compatible with both variants at once, so these types of mounts are usually not separated.
Note that for most air pistols — given their power and range — most often the front and rear sights are enough. Therefore, this feature is found mainly in two varieties of short-barreled pneumatics: in separate copies of military weapons, mainly submachine guns (including for airsoft), as well as in powerful long-range models, mainly in PCP format (see "Type").
