Plastic
— all-plastic wheels have virtually no tyres; the outer part of the wheel that is in contact with the road may be a separate part, but in fact it is more of a rim than a tyre. This type of wheel does not tolerate the slightest bumps in the road, up to small surface roughness — plastic is a fairly hard material, and all vibrations are transmitted to the bike. In addition, from a strong blow, it can crack. On the other hand, plastic is inexpensive and comes in a variety of colours. As a consequence of all this, wheels made of this material are found exclusively in tricycles, where there is no question of high speeds and loads.
