Vibration dampers

— devices designed to dampen the vibrations of the strings that occur upon contact with the ball. The classic vibration damper has the form of a small rubber ring, which is clamped between adjacent strings; there are other design options, sometimes very peculiar and unusual. Anyway, the main role of the vibration damper is to muffle the characteristic sound that occurs when the ball hits the strings — it is unpleasant for some tennis players. It is believed that such a device is not able to reduce the vibrations transmitted to the player's hand, however, some manufacturers claim the opposite.
