This is due, in particular, to reliability, safety and resistance to low temperatures; and the memory effect in such batteries is almost absent.

It is also worth noting that Ni-Mh batteries in power banks are usually made in the form of standard replaceable cells (for example, AA batteries). This gives a number of advantages over non-removable batteries: for example, when the charge is exhausted, you can install standard disposable batteries inside, and at that time put the battery on charge in an external charger.
