Such units have simplicity of design, low cost and ease of maintenance and repair. On the other hand, they lose to screw ones in terms of pressure generated (equal values can only be achieved with a two-stage operation scheme), overall performance, noise level and durability. In addition, reciprocating compressors are considered the best option for frequent interruptions, but are poorly suited for continuous air supply.
