According to the general principle of the device, it is similar to an aerator (see the relevant paragraph) — the design also has a horizontal shaft with knives located across the movement. The main difference is in the size and design of the knives — they are much larger and have blades of a specific shape. It is thanks to this that the aforementioned versatility is achieved: during operation, the knives cut and loosen the top layer of soil, breaking up lumps and bumps and chopping weeds. Also, the design may provide an automatic fertilizer supply mechanism. At the same time, rotators for the most part are distinguished by high efficiency and productivity, which allows them to be used even on very dense and heavy soils, including virgin soil.
