"Flat" in this case refers not to the shape of the conductors, but to the overall shape of the cable itself: the conductors are arranged in a row, which provides a flat overall cross-section. The conductors themselves are exclusively round multi-wire, with a very small cross-section of 0.5 mm² or 0.75 mm². However, the maximum allowable voltage for such wires is 380 V, although they are mainly used with 220 V.

In terms of operational properties, such a cable is resistant to high humidity and even aggressive chemical environments, has excellent flexibility, but is not very strong — in particular, it is noticeably inferior to the same PVC. As a result, its main area of application is connecting various electrical appliances to the network. The cable is especially good for compact devices where the cord needs to be frequently unwound and wound up — hair dryers, electric shavers, blenders, and other handheld kitchen appliances, etc. At the same time, it can also be used in larger powerful devices like refrigerators or washing machines. However, this cable is not well-suited for extension cords due to its relatively low reliability.
