Silk blankets

— silk blankets are not cheap, however, they look expensive too: they are beautiful, fluffy and keep their shape well. In addition, silk "breathes" perfectly, lets moisture through; those sleeping under such blankets do not sweat even in warm weather; and thanks to its bactericidal and anti-mite properties, this material is suitable even for allergy sufferers. However, in addition to the high cost, silk blankets have a number of other disadvantages that make their everyday use difficult. Firstly, they are not very warm, and besides, silk is cool to the touch; for winter time, this is far from the best choice. Secondly, the surface of the blanket is slippery, which can also create inconvenience. Thirdly, such products are demanding for care and storage: they cannot be tightly folded (to avoid “flattening” and loss of quality), and if dirty, the only option is dry cleaning (and not every silk blanket will be accepted for such services). As a consequence, silk is considered not so much an everyday solution as a "holiday" or "gift" material.
