— this sensor, as the name suggests, turns on the fan when motion is detected in the room. Shutdown can be either automatic (sometime after the movement has stopped) or manual. The sensor can be configured in such a way that it monitors not the entire room, but part of it — for example, so that the kitchen fan only works if someone approaches the stove.
