— in the classical sense, cologne (eau de cologne) is one of the least concentrated perfumes, containing up to 5% aromatic additives and 70% alcohol. Such compositions can be used both as a perfume itself and for hygiene purposes (for example, instead of aftershave lotion, if such a lotion is not at hand). However, some manufacturers, mostly American, call colognes quite concentrated products, similar in their properties to eau de parfum (see the relevant paragraph).
