— boards designed for use in racing. This category includes both the sports-style models themselves and some touring class boards (for travelling), which have fairly high-speed characteristics. Both those and others have a large length and small width, due to which stability on the course is ensured and resistance is reduced; while maintaining balance on such a board requires a certain skill. The choice between these varieties depends on the format of the competition: for relatively short distances, purely sports models are used, for marathon swims — touring ones.
