Battens for increasing stiffness

— special battens that increase the rigidity of the board for longitudinal bending. They are installed in the longitudinal direction, from the centre to the bow and stern. Thanks to such battens, the board does not sag to the middle under the weight of a person as much as in the absence of RSS. Note that the RSS name is a trademark used in Red Paddle boards; for other manufacturers, a similar function may have other official names.
