I needed a charger for my car battery because over 4.5 years I hadn't charged it once (this battery came with the car from France, and its age is unknown). Additionally, short trips became more frequent, plus it's a diesel car, and the temperatures outside were -20 and below. I was deciding between cheap Chinese models with prices up to €35 and something from Bosch. The cheap Chinese chargers were tempting due to their price, but I was worried about whether they would work properly and not ruin my battery. Among the Bosch options, I was choosing between this model and the C30 model. I decided to go for this one despite it being more expensive, for the ability to charge lithium batteries (for future needs). Overall, I liked the model. Everything is made solidly, with quality, neatly, and thoughtfully. There’s a nice and stylish box, a convenient and quality case that fits everything + it has a handle for carrying. There are inner pockets and compartments: one for the charging unit, another for the cables to the battery, another for the cables to the socket (by the way, the cables are long). The manual is decent (though some details aren't covered, so I had to Google). Thick, flexible cables and quality crocodile clips. The charger’s body is nice to touch (quality durable plastic, with rubberized edges), and bright indicators. Just one button (probably as simple as it gets). I initially set the battery to "recovery (desulfation)" mode—it stayed in it for about 1.5 hours. Then it automatically switched to regular charging. It charged the battery fairly quickly, but it wasn’t very discharged (it was over 70%). The battery is a Varta non-maintenance-free type. The charger has protection from reverse polarity, can automatically determine the battery voltage (6 or 12 V, if you're unsure), and it offers many different smart features. I'd like a more detailed instruction on the operating modes and their nuances. Also, just a separate indicator that lights up when the battery is charged. Because for beginners, the system of understanding the blinking/flashing and lighting of the indicator may be a bit complicated, and this indicates different charging modes. Price – I'd like it to be 25 EUR cheaper. |
