An excellent backpack that surpasses famous brands in many ways.

The backpack was in active use for several years. After replacing it with a more expensive one, I only had warm memories of the functionality, convenience and indestructibility of PINGUIN. Now I understand that there are no ideal things and that everywhere has its pros and cons, even top companies.
Incredibly functional - side pockets, external hanging options, spacious internal volume without frame bends, excellent fabric, good weight, comfortable straps and back.
Belt. It can rub your thighs (depending on how). I don’t recommend loading more than 15-17 kg, especially for thin tourists.

More modern and lighter

Updated for 2020, Pinguin's Explorer Backpack has been given a more modern look. Plus, the manufacturer replaced the polyester fabric with durable nylon. This solution reduced the weight of the Pinguin Explorer 60 to 1.97 kg, while the 2013 version weighed 2.25 kg.

On the market there are different modifications of the backpack both in colour (blue, black or khaki) and in capacity. For example, if 60 liters is not enough (a trip lasting more than 7 days is planned), then you should take a closer look at the Explorer 75.

2 compartments + shoulder bag

The model has two main compartments: the main chamber is complemented by a lower pocket. But between them there is a removable partition, so if you want it is easy to get one large compartment. In addition, in addition to the upper and lower entrances, there are two side openings (left and right). So we get the most practical 4-way access to content.

There are also 5 pockets: four side pockets (two with zippers and a pair of open ones) and one top on the valve. The latter, by the way, is removed and turns into a shoulder bag, which is useful for walking light near the camp.

Convenient fixation and other bonuses

The Pinguin Explorer 60 uses a proprietary ABS suspension system. In addition to ventilated inserts and the anatomical shape of the back, its distinguishing features are a rigid aluminium frame and the ability to adjust in height. Also, the developers did not forget about comfortable shoulder straps, a chest strap and a waist belt. However the latter is made of a rather coarse fabric, which, during long movements, is capable of rubbing the skin.

For external fixation of loads, in addition to equipment loops, there is an elastic cord. It is also worth mentioning the hole for the outlet of the pipes of the drinking system, the complete rain cover and the tie-down system for adjusting the volumes.

The Pinguin Explorer 60 is a quality hiking backpack with an adequate price tag, ready to compete with big-name brands like Deuter.
