A premium controller for PC and PS5 consoles that features additional programmable buttons on the back, premium Mecha-Tactile mechanical switches, and Razer Chroma lighting. It supports wireless communication using a HyperSpeed Wireless radio receiver, as well as a wired connection using a USB-C cable. The gamepad belongs to the upper price range and is created for particularly demanding gamers who are not satisfied with the capabilities of branded gamepads from the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
The manipulator uses Sony's proprietary layout with geometric symbols instead of letters. The difference is that the analog sticks and D-Pad are arranged asymmetrically in the style of the Xbox layout. The Razer Wolverine V2 Pro is a premium controller for PC and PlayStation 5 that offers advanced customization options. It features additional programmable buttons and interchangeable thumbsticks that are tailored to different playstyles: short thumbsticks for faster response and long thumbsticks for increased control. The controller is priced at the top end and is almost identical to the Wolverine V2 Chroma, which has been adapted for use with the PS5.
Razer Mecha-Tactile Mechanical Switches
The controller is made in a black and white color scheme, corresponding to the style of the PS5, and in the center is a touchpad reminiscent of the DualSense. The main advantage of the Wolverine V2 Pro is the Mecha-Tactile mechanical switches with tactile feedback, high sensitivity and response accuracy. According to Razer, the response time of each button is 35% faster compared to standard switches used in Microsoft and Sony controllers. The resource of the buttons is declared at 3 million clicks. In addition to the main keys, the controller is equipped with six additional buttons: two bumpers under the index fingers and four paddles on the back panel.
Excellent but not perfect
The controller is equipped with the Sensitivity Clutch function, which allows you to temporarily change the sensitivity of the sticks depending on the situation in the game. The triggers also have special switches for adjusting the sensitivity. Other advantages of the device include the elegant Razer Chroma backlight, the HyperSpeed Wireless module, good battery life (up to 28 hours of operation without backlighting) and replaceable pads for the sticks. The only drawback is the high price - about 10 thousand hryvnia; for such a price, we would like to see fully replaceable sticks, adaptive triggers, like Sony, and a replaceable D-Pad, like Xbox Elite.
Additionally, the controller is very bulky and personally uncomfortable for me; after 15 minutes of use, I felt pain in my wrists. To reach L1, I need to bend my hand, whereas I didn't have such issues with the DualShock 5 and Xbox Series.
Everything else is great, the mechanical switches instead of membrane for buttons feel fantastic. I think this is an excellent gamepad for universal use with really fast response time and lots of functional capabilities.
