The missing link in evolution
The ADATA Ultimate SU900 is a new generation of mid-priced 3D MLC SSDs that fills a niche between cheap TLC drives and expensive planar MLCs. The SU900 turned out to be significantly more reliable than the first ones, but a little slower than the second ones.
Writing is not rewriting
For PC users who often rewrite large amounts of data to disk, such as gamers and video editors, the resources of a three-bit TLC memory are clearly not enough for a long time. It is better to pay a little more for an SSD with MLC memory, which writes only two bits of data per cell and thanks to this guarantees three times as many rewrite cycles (3000 versus 1000 for TLC).
Only half fast
Used in ADATA Ultimate SU900 Micron 3D MLC flash memory. Unlike Toshiba's planar MLC memory with a constant write speed, it tends to drop in speed when writing large files (from 520 to 120 Mbps). The problem is solved in the same way as for TLC disks — with a software SLC array. Fortunately, in the case of 3D MLC and smart controller SMI SM2258, the volume of the array is equal to half the amount of free disk space. So the chance of experiencing a drop in speed, if you do not "hammer" the SSD to the eyeballs, tends to zero. If high read speed (560 MB / s) and durability (which is confirmed by a 5-year warranty) are important for you, then feel free to take the ADATA Ultimate SU900. If you want an SSD with a consistently high write speed, then take a look at the alternatives: Kingston HyperX Savage or Samsung 850 Pro.
