Model overview based on user reviews
The Acer Aspire 7 A715-42G is a well-rounded laptop offering a balance of performance and features. It comes with a fast SSD, a reliable processor, and a comfortable keyboard, making it suitable for everyday tasks and light gaming. The inclusion of modern wireless modules like Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 is a notable advantage, ensuring up-to-date connectivity. Users appreciate the decent battery life, lasting up to 6 hours during video playback. However, the laptop's color reproduction is subpar, making it unsuitable for tasks requiring accurate color representation. The sound quality is adequate for movies but lacks depth for music. Additionally, the touchpad is functional but not as pleasant as using a mouse. The laptop has only one SSD slot, limiting storage expansion options. Overall, the Acer Aspire 7 A715-42G is recommended for its price, offering good performance and features for general use.
Pros
Cons
Fast enough SSD; Keyboard; Processor; Design; Decent battery life; Current wireless modules (Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5). I don't understand why all manufacturers haven't switched to modern wireless standards yet, but that's exactly why I chose THIS laptop, not the HP with a similar processor, but with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2; Color reproduction; Mediocre touchpad (it's okay, there are even convenient gestures, but a mouse is much more pleasant); Initially, the F1-F12 buttons work as functional keys, and to press F1 you need to simultaneously hold the FN key. Naturally, I changed this in the BIOS right away, but it's unclear why it's like this. For inexperienced users, this can become a problem; Sound: loud, without distortion, but quite mediocre, good for watching movies, but it's better not to listen to music; 1 slot for installing SSD (which is obviously already occupied). That is, if 512 GB SSD becomes insufficient for you, you won't be able to add a second SSD, only replace the one already installed. |
A decent laptop with good specs, quiet, powerful, plenty of space on the drive to start, and I don't really like to keep clutter, everything unnecessary is deleted including games, of which I have 2. Performance is alright, the beech on AMD stone. They're not there, I'd tweak the bass, but overall it's not bad. |

The SSD is fairly fast, and the processor performs well (Ryzen 7 5700U). I even tried downloading and playing one game. Dead by Daylight runs at ultra settings at 50-60 FPS, with no freezes, and the processor temperature didn’t rise above 80 degrees, averaging 75. However, I deleted it after 30 minutes because playing on a small 15.6" screen is uncomfortable, besides, the laptop wasn’t intended for that.
I was pleased with the keyboard, it’s pleasant to type on, with distinct yet quiet keystrokes. The brightness of the backlight, although not adjustable, is well set, doesn’t strain the eyes, and works well in the dark.
Battery life. While watching videos at 80% brightness in Better Battery mode (there's also Power Saver mode, which would last a bit longer), the laptop lasted 6 hours and still had 10-15% left, autonomy is OK. There’s also a proprietary Acer Care Center utility, which, when plugged in, allows setting a charge limit (80%) to prolong battery life.
The only downside for me was the TERRIBLE color representation. After a home monitor with 97% sRGB, the laptop’s 60% (if I’m not mistaken, I couldn’t find the exact info now, but I saw it somewhere) looks, to say the least, mediocre. You can watch videos and movies, but for color work - absolutely not. Since my line of work doesn’t require a high-quality screen, it's not a problem.
