Asus ROG Ally X (RC72LA)

The portable gaming system ROG Ally X is an updated version of the original model ROG Ally Z1, which was released in 2023. Despite using the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, the device has received a number of improvements that make it even more powerful and convenient for gamers. One of the key updates is the 7-inch touch display with 1080p resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 500 cd/m² brightness, providing a more enjoyable gaming experience whether playing at home or outdoors on a sunny day.

The internals of the ROG Ally X have been refined: the portable console now features 24 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM and a larger M.2 2280 format SSD with 1 TB capacity, allowing for storage of a broader game library without the need for constant deletion. ROG Ally X is equipped with a larger 80 Wh battery, which according to the manufacturer, should almost double its battery life.

Meanwhile, the device's weight has only increased by 70 grams to a total of 678 g. Regarding design, Asus has made several changes: the body is now in an elegant black color, and the joystick durability has been enhanced. Additionally, the cooling system has become more efficient, reducing heat during the launch of particularly demanding games. One of the most significant changes is the abandonment of the proprietary ROG XG connector for attaching external graphics cards. Instead, a universal USB4 is now used, expanding device compatibility with peripherals and allowing connection of various external accessories. The ROG Ally X uses Windows 11 as its operating system, supporting all the most popular gaming platforms and services, including Steam, Xbox Game Pass, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
