Lightweight and slim body

The Asus VivoBook 17X705UF is one of those rare 17-inch laptops that packs a lot of power into a pretty tiny chassis. The dimensions of the model are 411x270x22.6 mm and weighs only 2.1 kg. For comparison, most 17-inch models weigh an average of 2.8 – 3 kg. By the way, a laptop with smooth lines, a neat and thin base and a cover made of soft-touch plastic finished in aluminium is easy to confuse with the ZenBook line of ultrabooks.

Display for entertainment and work

This model comes with a 17-inch IPS screen with Full HD (1920x1080) resolution. The display has excellent viewing angles, good contrast ratio and eye-pleasing colour calibration. Both in tests and in everyday work, the display leaves a pleasant impression, and the anti-reflective coating makes the picture distinguishable in bright sunlight.

Core i7 eighth generation

The basis of the laptop is the eighth generation quad-core Core i7 with a maximum clock speed of 4 GHz. This is one of the most powerful processors that can be found in laptops in this price range. DDR4 RAM is pre-installed with 8 GB and can be expanded up to 16 GB. A bunch of SSD and HDD with a total capacity of 1128 GB provides a decent amount of memory, which, if necessary, can be increased using an additional M.2 connector.

Good for games too

The discrete graphics card GeForce MX130 is responsible for the gaming component, which has a 2 GB of video memory on board. Although the video adapters of this series lack the stars from the sky, they cope with most modern games, demonstrating more or less comfortable FPS in them at medium graphics settings.

Built-in fingerprint scanner

The Asus VivoBook 17X705UF connector kit includes two USB 2.0 ports, one 3.0 port, one USB-C, HDMI and a card reader. Everything is usual here. Definitely, it is worth noting the presence of a backlit keyboard, which makes it easier to work in the dark, and a fingerprint scanner, which adds points to the model in terms of security.

A battery with a capacity of 42 Wh shows decent battery life and, depending on the type of load (web surfing or games), as well as the brightness of the screen, can last from 2.5 to 6 hours.
