The seventh "Viking" from Continental is a tyre for a harsh winter with an abundance of snowfalls, constant ice on the road and low air temperatures. Depending on the dimension (over 100 options), the model will fit both passenger cars and SUV class cars.

The severity of the reaction

The key innovation that found implementation on board the tyre was a radically redesigned tread pattern. The asymmetry that ruled the show in the previous generation tyre (Continental ContiVikingContact 6) has been replaced by a directional tread design with symmetrically spaced blocks in the centre of the tread. Rigid connections are established between them by means of special jumpers in the drainage channels, thanks to which it was possible to achieve a sharp reaction of the tyre to steering commands.

Stranglehold

The tread blocks of the model are dotted with lamellas of two types: 3D-Trapez in the central zone and U-shaped ones on the shoulders. The slots closer to the central plane have a trapezoidal shape of the inner walls. With their sharp edges, the tyre clings better to the roughness of the road surface, while excess snow settles for the duration of contact in special “pockets”. As a result of the friction of snow on snow, the grip of rubber increases.

Ride stability

Rubber "cocktail" Continental ContiVikingContact 7 generously flavored with silica and additives based on rapeseed oil. In fact, such a rubber mixture retains elasticity better in a wide range of sub-zero temperatures and has increased tensile and tensile strength. Well, as a nice bonus, tyre owners get a remarkable sidewall design with an exclusive 3D pattern of protruding rhombuses.
