How to choose the right SSDChoosing an SSD with the required speed and good reliability for home, work and gaming
Model overview based on user reviews
The Crucial BX500 SSD series offers a range of capacities from 120GB to 4TB, making it versatile for various storage needs. Users appreciate its performance, especially in speeding up older PCs, and its affordability compared to other SSDs on the market. The SSD is praised for its ease of installation and low operating temperatures. However, some users have reported issues with speed drop-offs when the drive is more than half full, particularly due to the lack of a cache. Despite these concerns, many find it a great value for money, especially for those who need a reliable SSD for basic tasks. The build quality is noted as average, with some mentioning a plastic case that feels less sturdy. Overall, the Crucial BX500 is recommended for budget-conscious buyers looking for a decent performance boost, although it may not be suitable for heavy data transfer tasks.

I've been using mine for the second year on a Core 2 Duo E8200, DDR2 8GB 1066. It has Win10 installed, everything is great, and the difference compared to an HDD is huge, it feels like I bought a new PC. Although the motherboard only has SATA 2. The speed in tests shows 230 Mbit.

The best for your money)))

If you are assembling a homeless PC, then in principle it’s okay to download Windows and a couple of games for your own money. But you can live until you find the money for an expensive SSD drive.
Easy to install (I assembled the PC for the first time). They didn't lie, the memory doesn't heat up. For my money it’s the best I’ve seen and it didn’t die as usual with others.

Excellent value for money and quality

The BX500 SSD released under Micron Technology's sub-brand Crucial is aimed at undemanding users who plan to upgrade their hard drive in a PC or laptop, but don't want to spend too much. The BX500 is made in a 2.5-inch SATA 3 form factor, and it is based on 3D NAND TLC memory chips, which have recently successfully settled in the low-cost sector.

High line speed

Despite the low-cost, according to the manufacturer, the emphasis in the production of the drive was placed on speed. So, according to the passport, the “straightforward” write and read speed is not at all budgetary 500 and 540 MB / s, while the popular Crystal Disk Info benchmark gives 499 and 560 MB / s.

Three years warranty

Naturally, with the official price of $ 30, it was impossible to do without tightened belts. In the case of the BX500, the bottleneck is the low-cost single-core SM2258XT controller without support for buffer RAM, which affects the write speed. When copying numerous files of different sizes, the disc recording performance can drop noticeably and fluctuate between 125 – 366 Mb / s.

The BX500 comes with a three-year warranty, during which 40 TB of information can be written to the disc, after which the official warranty expires. At the end of 2018, these are not the most impressive numbers, as many manufacturers now provide a stock of 70-80 TB with the same three-year warranty.
