From the press release:

The DWL-3260AP D-Link AirPremier is a high performance indoor wireless access point for enterprise networks. With high transfer rates up to 108 Mbps (Turbo mode)1, advanced security features, QoS, PoE support, the access point offers a business-class solution for deploying high-performance and secure wireless networks

Connection speed up to 108Mbps
The DWL-3260AP supports the 802.11g standard, which transmits up to 54Mbps, ensuring reliable connection, and by adopting 108G D-Link technology, this access point is able to reach the maximum wireless signal transmission rate of up to 108Mbps (Turbo- mode). At the same time, DWL-3260AP is fully compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g standards.

Turbo mode
The maximum wireless data rate of 54 Mbps is defined by the IEEE 802.11g standard specifications. 108 Mbps in Turbo mode is achieved with other D-Link Wireless 108 G devices. Actual throughput will vary.

Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Support To extend coverage, the DWL-3260AP can be placed in a hard-to-reach location, such as a ceiling, where power outlets are not available and power supply becomes difficult and costly. The DWL-3260AP can be powered through an existing network cable from a PoE switch located up to 100 metres away. With support for the 802.3af PoE standard, no PoE adapter needs to be connected to the access point.

Ceiling installation
DWL-3260AP looks like a round office smoke detector and does not attract the attention of network intruders. To increase the similarity to a smoke detector, you can turn off the device's LED indicators.

Advanced Wireless Security
When deploying a wireless network, one of the important issues remains the problem of ensuring its security. The DWL-3260AP supports WPA-Enterprise, 802.1x and 802.11i to ensure complete network security. Other security features include MAC address filtering, WLAN segmentation, SSID broadcast suppression, and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption support.

Support for WDS (Wireless Distribution System) mode
To improve return on investment, the DWL-3260AP can be configured to operate in AP mode, point-to-point bridge, or point-to-multipoint (WDS) mode. In AP mode, the DWL-3260AP uses an internal omnidirectional antenna for maximum network coverage. In WDS mode, the DWL-3260AP with an optional omnidirectional antenna connected via SMA connector can be installed on a high wall. Users can disable the built-in antenna via a switch and the DWL-3260AP will only communicate with wireless bridges using external directional antennas, preventing wireless clients or stations from connecting to it.

Increase Network Agility and Efficiency
The DWL-3260AP supports multiple SSIDs (Multiple SSID), which allows you to divide the access point into several independent segments based on security and performance requirements. The primary SSID can be enabled for encryption and authentication to secure the private network, while the other SSID can be left open to the public. Multiple SSID also means that SSID broadcasting can be enabled or disabled on different segments of the wireless network. For example, for public Internet access, you can enable SSID broadcasting so that client wireless adapters can automatically find available access points. In a private network, you can disable SSID broadcasting to prevent unauthorized users from identifying the wireless network. The network administrator can set the number of users to be recognized by a specific SSID to manage user services.

Preservation of investments and mobility of applications
The DWL-3260AP supports multiple SSIDs (Multiple SSID), allowing administrators to logically divide the access point into multiple virtual access points within the same hardware platform. Instead of creating two separate networks with two access points, administrators can use one access point to support more than one application, such as public Internet access and internal network management, to increase network flexibility and reduce costs.
