Inexpensive medium-power power supply (450 W) from the popular Deepcool DN line, which includes a number of energy-efficient models capable of operating with loads from 350 to 650 W. Equipped with an active power factor correction (APFC) module, complies with the ATX 12V v2.31 standard, equipped with a traditional non-detachable cable group. The manufacturer is positioned as a model of the base price category, focused on use in multifunctional home PCs and entry-level gaming systems (with TDP video cards up to 150 W). Can be used in entry-level workstation configurations. The hardware platform of the Deepcool DN DN450 power supply uses time-tested circuitry with group voltage stabilization, which allows the device to deliver up to 90.6% of the nameplate power through the + 12V line and ope...rate with a peak current load of up to 34 A. The manufacturer saved on certification, but declares good energy efficiency with an efficiency of about 85% (at 50% load). The cooling system uses a controlled low-noise 120 mm fan with a long-life bearing and a 7-blade impeller, the rotation speed of which depends on the load and temperature of the components of the unit. In addition to the standard ATX 24-pin (20+4) and EPS/ATX12V 8-pin (4+4) cable lines, there is a cable for powering video cards with a PCI-E 8-pin (6+2) connector, a 4xSATA cable for connecting drives and the Peripheral line with a set of 1xSATA+3xMOLEX 4-pin connectors.

How to choose a power supply for a PCBasics of choosing a reliable and balanced power supply for your home, office and gaming computer

One of the best entry level power supplies

The Chinese company Deepcool has earned its name in the field of inexpensive cooling systems, but does not plan to stop there. The company's product range also includes cases, stands for laptops and power supplies. We’ll talk about the latter, since the popular low-cost PSU Deepcool Nova came to our test. This is an entry-level 450-watt model with an 80+ certification, an active power factor correction module, and surprisingly smart circuitry.

Efficiency 82 – 85%

Despite the fact that the manufacturer decided to save money on the bronze certificate, according to the passport, good energy efficiency is claimed in the region of 85% at a “typical load”. As it turned out, the “typical load” in Deepcool is considered to be 50% of the capacity. If you load the power supply in full, then you can count on an efficiency of 82%, which is only 3% lower than that of the "bronze" power supplies. But more importantly, the electronics of the main 12-volt line keeps the voltage stable with a small amount of drawdowns and ripples. With a price tag of around $30 for a 450-watt model, it's no surprise that it's often bought for home PCs and mid-range gaming systems where the power consumption of the graphics card does not exceed 150 watts. And still excellent models of the caliber GeForce GTX 1070 and GTX 1660 SUPER fall under this requirement.

Five year warranty

Deepcool did the smart thing by not trying to sit on a few chairs. Therefore, literally every little thing of dubious importance was sacrificed for quality. Pretty packaging? Keep some old cardboard. Backlight? Light up the flashlight on your phone. Modular cables? Not today, here's a classic bun for the most basic. Please note that the cables are not the longest, when installed in a traditional case with a top pocket for a power supply, some SATA connectors may not reach the drives located in the far bottom pockets. Is it worth all the savings? Yes, and yes again. History teaches that beautiful but stupidly made low-cost power supplies can delight with RGB backlighting for the time being, and then suddenly burn out, taking the entire computer with them to the grave. And Deepcool gives a 5-year warranty as for premium PSUs, which is good news.
