The Dell Alienware 17 R4 is a gaming laptop in the traditional sense of the word: large (screen size 17.3"), heavy (4.4 kg) and frilly design. Alienware series laptops, which gamers jokingly call "Aliens", outwardly resemble UFOs, as science fiction writers describe them. Convex shape, asymmetry and a muffled mysterious glow. So, the Alienware 17 R4 has a top cover, ends, keyboard and touchpad. Moreover, you can choose any colour of the glow or turn it off completely.
Hot stuff
The ends and bottom of the laptop are almost completely cut by ventilation grills, which is a completely justified step, given how much power lies inside. This is, firstly, the eight-threaded Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor - not the latest, but still one of the most high-performance. And secondly, the pre-flagship GeForce GTX 1070 discrete graphics card with 1920 microcores and 8 GB of video memory. In order to cool all this, the fans have to make a lot of noise.
Faster, higher, stronger!
Such an impressive amount of video memory allows games, even at ultra-graphics settings, not to upload textures to the RAM. Therefore, the installed 16 GB of RAM will last for a long time. The disk subsystem is improved: the SSD has a capacity increased to 256 GB, and the HDD has a rotation speed increased to 7200 rpm (read and write speed increased from 100 to 150 Mbps). With all this in mind, the Dell Alienware 17 R4 is capable of meeting the demands of even the most hardcore gamers and has three to five years of performance headroom.
