Dickie City Train (3563900)

A miniature replica of a Swiss train from Dickie Toys is made in 1:87 scale. This set includes an electric locomotive, two passenger cars and a track that can be built in three different configurations.

Routes

The simplest track is a circle with a diameter of 1 m. When using two straight lines, the figure of the track is transformed into an oval (1.3 m), and if you additionally install two elements with turnouts, the train will be able to travel both in a small circle (1 m in diameter) and and large (1.55 m). The presence of arrows and the sequential switching of the train tracks with their help helps to develop logic in the child.

The movement of the train is accompanied by light and sound effects. Unfortunately, the imitation of sounds is made non-switchable and, moreover, is carried out quite loudly. Another disadvantage of the railway is the inconvenient three-position switch for the operating mode of the locomotive: the “off” position is located exactly in the middle, which is why the finger often slips past it, starting the movement forward or reverse.

Solutions

It will be difficult for the youngest children to independently install the composition on the rails. But if you get used to it, there will be no problems — many kids are superior in this regard to their parents. The composition is driven by the charge of two "finger-type" batteries. In order not to have to constantly look for a replacement for them, it is advisable to immediately stock up on appropriate AA batteries.

Helpful advice. The youngest children (aged 2 to 4 years) tend to be independent, which makes them more suitable for locomotives that can be rolled on rails with their own hands. For older children (from 4 years old), who prefer to watch the movement of the train from the side, there are options with a remote control.
