The Eufy directional camera stands out with its very compact dimensions of 10x8x6 cm. Despite this, the body houses a 6500 mAh battery that ensures autonomous operation for up to 3 months. There is also a solar panel on top: according to the manufacturer, three hours of clear weather is enough to power the camera for the whole day.
Wireless operation thanks to the battery and Wi-Fi significantly simplifies installation: no specialists are needed for setup, and the entire process takes about 5 minutes on average. The Eufy SoloCam S220's readiness for outdoor use is confirmed by its IP67 dust and water protection, as well as the ability to operate in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
Smart and Intelligent
The camera features a 3 MP sensor and records video with a resolution of 2304x1296 pixels. The model also offers a wide 135-degree field of view and black-and-white night vision thanks to IR illumination. The built-in speaker is used for two-way communication and sound alarms: the siren volume reaches 75 dB.
The model works with the proprietary app and is compatible with Google Home. Among the intelligent functions are perimeter protection with two zones, human detection, and face recognition. The latter capability is more precisely revealed in conjunction with the proprietary HomeBase 3 recorder: it helps reduce false alarms in "friend or foe" scenarios, for instance, when a child grows up or a family member changes their hairstyle.
Drawbacks include the modest built-in storage capacity — 8 GB of EMMC flash memory, and the absence of a LAN port is considered a downside. Overall, the Eufy SoloCam S220 is a successful option for a wireless outdoor camera without extra costs.
