affordable luxury
Goodram IRDM X DDR4 is one of the most affordable overclocker RAM models on the market. The word "overclocker" refers to RAM that can operate at high frequencies (3000 MHz or higher) while conversely low timings (CL16 or lower). Moreover, overclocking can be both outdated manual and modern automatic, by activating a ready-made XMP profile, that is, a combination of frequency, timings and voltage optimally selected by the memory manufacturer.
A scattering of flowers
There are a great many variations of IRDM X DDR4 on the market: separate strips with a volume of 4 to 16 GB, paired sets with a total volume of 8 to 32 GB, frequencies from 2666 to 3200 MHz, as well as five colour options for radiators — black, red, white, blue and variegated, combining all these colours together. Radiators, by the way, are not made of "foil" at all, as in some other RAM models, but of thick-walled aluminium, which absorbs and dissipates heat well.
Golden mean
The optimal, in our opinion, is the IRDM X DDR4 kit consisting of two modules of 8 GB each with a frequency of 3000 MHz. On the one hand, this is a guarantee that the memory will start up accurately at a high frequency, and, on the other hand, it gives, albeit small, but still room for experiments with manual overclocking. So, Nanya A-die chips, on which this memory is built, overclock without problems to a frequency of 3200 – 3333 MHz with still moderate timings of 16-18-18-38.
Solid design
It's just not clear why Goodram set similar CL16 timings by default for the younger versions of IRDM X DDR4 with a frequency of 2666 and 2800 MHz. After all, memory with such a frequency starts up without problems on CL14 and CL15, respectively. Fortunately, it is not difficult to independently lower the timings in the BIOS settings of the motherboard. Otherwise, Goodram IRDM X DDR4 is fast, reliable and solid-looking (with metal heatsinks without annoying backlighting) RAM. By the way, the Goodram range has even more affordable IRDM memory with a frequency of 2133 – 2400 MHz, as well as the latest with frequencies up to 3600 MHz.
