3000 MHz out of the box. Overclocking potential.

A kit consisting of two peer-to-peer overclocker RAM modules with a total capacity of 16 GB (2x8 GB). It features the ability to operate stably at 3000 MHz clock speed, balanced timings and stylish exterior design. The manufacturer is positioning itself as an affordable product of the middle price category in 2016, aimed at a wide range of gaming enthusiasts and economical overclocker enthusiasts.

G.Skill Aegis DDR4 2x8Gb F4-3000C16D-16GISB kit modules are recommended for use in universal home and gaming systems. Also suitable for equipping low-cost workstations. The manufacturer claims compatibility with platforms based on Intel Core processors (6th to 12th generation) and AMD Ryzen (Zen/Zen2/Zen3) CPUs. By default, the modules work with an effective clock frequency of 2133 MHz, timings 15-15-15-36 and a voltage of 1.2 V.

For simple automatic activation of the claimed performance mode (dual-channel, with an effective clock frequency of 3000 MHz, timings CL16-18-18- 38 and 1.35V) requires a motherboard that supports XMP 2.0 technology. If the motherboard does not support this technology, then the necessary parameters are configured manually in the corresponding section of the UEFI BIOS. The performance mode provides high throughput (24 Gbps) sufficient for any games and resource-intensive applications.

A bit of mythology

A set of two 8 GB sticks of G.Skill Aegis is named after the famous shield of the Greek gods, the Aegis symbolizes strength and power. But mythology aside, after the price adjustment, this is now one of the most affordable overclocking kits on the market, running out of the box at 3000 MHz at low timings (CL16) and a standard voltage of 1.35 V.

Don't accelerate too hard

However, overclocking here is very conditional due to the fact that the heatsink is, as it were, not a heatsink, but an ordinary foil. In this regard, the G.Skill Aegis is not very suitable for serious overclocking. However, many managed to overclock it to 3200 MHz with standard timings and stable system operation. The memory ceiling that is not recommended to be abused is 3333 MHz. Yes, and it's too much, as we think. There will be no special increase from these megahertz, but it may well fail prematurely.

The main thing is stability

Can this be considered a disadvantage? Definitely not, look at the price tag and rejoice. 3000 MHz sticks at the price of the most ordinary Crucial without heatsinks is a great deal. And despite the price, it behaves adequately in operation, does not overheat (if you do not drive above 3300 MHz), does not “fall off” when the indicators are changed in the BIOS, and generally works reliably. This has been mentioned more than once in reviews on Amazon and other major trading platforms. And for that kind of money, what else could you ask for?
