Gamepad baby from Sony and Microsoft

In the production of the GM3 controller, Hoco decided not to give a damn about the existing standards of gamepad building and went on the principle of "I'm an artist, I see it that way." From the Xbox gamepad, they borrowed the general outlines of the case, the location of the triggers, the height of the sticks, and the layout with multi-coloured "ABXY" keys. At the same time, the layout of the buttons here is the same as the DualShock gamepad familiar to all PlayStation consoles: the D-pad is located on the left directly opposite the button block, and the symmetrical sticks are located below the thumbs. The result is an interesting hybrid that gives the player the best of both worlds.

smartphone holder

In the centre of the gamepad is a large folding slot, which is inserted into the iPhone or Android-smartphone. The smartphone clings with a stranglehold, there is no need to be afraid that over time the mounts become loose and one day it will accidentally fall out and slam to the floor. Otherwise, the quality of the gamepad is not so impressive. Buttons and bumpers clearly work on pressing, and the gamepad itself is made of comfortable soft-touch material, but at the same time, the sticks here are not calibrated in the best way. For example, in our test sample, the left stick had several dead zones when switching towards the upper right corner. And the build quality here is not perfect - during a particularly intense game, the left side crunched slightly, and the right lower bumper worked with more effort than the rest.

Additional multimedia buttons

In addition to the smartphone holder and hybrid layout, Hoco GM3 has a couple of other interesting features. On the right handle, just below the button block, there is a small strip with five additional buttons for volume control and multimedia functions. Here analogies arise rather with multimedia keyboards than with gamepads. Also, instead of the batteries familiar to low-cost gamepads, the Hoco GM3 has a built-in battery that lasts about 20 hours when fully charged. Other inexpensive controllers typically have battery life of 10 to 15 hours.

Convenient multimedia buttons allow you to use the accessory to control the process of audio / video playback.
