A dedicated wired controller from Hori with an unusual 6-button Sega Mega Drive-style joystick layout and a remote right stick. In addition to the 4 classic buttons with the letters ABXY, the RB and RT keys are also placed on the right panel, and instead of them, a pair of additional programmable bumpers is hidden on one of the ends. As planned by the manufacturer, the layout of the gamepad is ideal for controlling characters in modern fighting games like Mortal Kombat 11, Injustice 2, Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6.
To simplify the gamepad setup, the manufacturer has provided the ability to save 4 different profiles with settings for different games, between which you can switch using the function key located near the left stick. Among the additional features of the Fighting Commander OCTA, it is necessary to highlight the possibility of adjusting the sensitivity of the D-Pad, a separate connector for connecting a headset, as well as buttons for controlling the headset and microphone. Hori Fighting Commander OCTA connects to the signal source using a regular USB cable. As rightly pointed out in the promotional material, the wired connection provides instantaneous action, so you never miss the perfect moment to strike. The manufacturer claims support for the current generation of PC and Xbox consoles.

Choose your fighter!
While most companies simply copy the look of Xbox and PlayStation controllers, American brand Hori occasionally surprises with the originality of its solutions. For example, their Fighting Commander controller, created specifically for fans of fighting games (and, to a lesser extent, platformers), has become an interesting alternative to standard solutions. The main difference of the Fighting Commander is its unique button scheme in the style of the Sega Mega Drive with six ABCXYZ control buttons, thanks to which the player will more easily manage combos and strikes in games such as Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Tekken and other fighting games.
are fully customized
To control the character's movements, you can use either the 8-way D-pad or the analog stick with an octagonal limit located next to it. This gives users freedom of choice. However, Hori went further: in addition to this, the player can adjust the sensitivity of the D-pad, reassign the functions of the buttons, save separate settings profiles for different games (4 profiles in total), and quickly switch between them using a separate button on the central panel.
Gamepad and Hitbox Hybrid
Hori has managed to create an original, innovative, but at the same time quite affordable device that combines the convenience of classic controllers with the precision of sticks and hitboxes needed for fighting games. The only thing that Hori Fighting Commander OCTA owners warn about is the need to immediately install the proprietary application and update the firmware, since the original responsiveness of the stick and cross does not suit everyone. In addition, users accustomed to the premium class may be disappointed by the quality of the plastic. By the way, the manipulator is officially compatible with Windows and Xbox platforms, and for PS4 and PS5 owners, an alternative version with a more classic layout is available.
