Under the Intel NUC trademark, the user is offered kits for self-assembly of mini-PCs, separate motherboards and ready-made compact systems with Windows 10 preinstalled. independently assemble a full-fledged small-sized mini-PC (nettop). The proposed range of such solutions covers the entry-level and mid-price category and allows you to create both low-cost computing systems for multimedia purposes and medium-power nettops with four physical processor cores, a large amount of DDR4-2133/2400 RAM and high-speed M.2 SSD drives and SATA3.

The Intel NUC kit includes a motherboard with a processor soldered on it with a cooling system, a case and a power supply. RAM and drives for the disk subsystem are purchased separately. As a graphics subsystem for displaying images, the video core built into the processor is used. It provides hardware acceleration in decoding-encoding of ultra-high resolution (4k) media content. Gaming 3D performance depends on the type of CPU and when using top solutions, for example, Core i7-8809G, it can exceed the level of inexpensive discrete graphics cards. The motherboard has integrated LAN and Wi-Fi adapters and is equipped with VGA, HDMI 1.4/2.0, mini DisplayPort video outputs, as well as USB 3.0/3.1 Type-A/C ports.

The agony of choice: which is better, a gaming laptop or a full-fledged system unit?We consider the advantages and disadvantages of both options in order to choose the most suitable option.
