For active parents
The expensive Maclaren pushchair has replaced the Maclaren Quest model and will be a good solution for active walks and travel. It weighs 5.5 kg (without awning and basket), and the width of the chassis is only 46 cm, that is, the pushchair is quite narrow and provides good manoeuvrability. One of the main differences from its predecessors is the one-piece handle, which is more convenient than the double one. You will be able to operate the baby transport with one hand, but you will only be able to do this on a flat surface — for example, on tiles in a store. However, the pushchair folds in the form of a cane, and a shoulder strap and a handle are provided for easy carrying. In addition, the kit comes with a rain cover for walking in any weather and a shopping basket. However putting things and bags in it is not very convenient. Also, during walks, parents will appreciate a small pocket on the back where a phone or wallet can fit, a viewing window to watch the baby, reflective stripes for traveling in the dark and a loop on the arm for a full control.
Up to 4 years
The pushchair will become a reliable companion for a child up to 3.5 – 4 years old (maximum load is 25 kg), and thanks to the backrest adjustable to a horizontal position, even a baby will comfortably fit inside. The footrest is also adjustable, increasing the bed during the rest of the baby, and when he grows up, the role of the footboard will be taken over by a solid partition between the wheels. The hood has an interesting square shape and protects the little traveler from the bright sun, wind, precipitation and ultraviolet radiation, almost completely covering the seat with the help of an additional section with mesh ventilation holes under the zipper. By the way, all plastic parts have rounded tips so that the child is not accidentally injured. Five-point harnesses are also responsible for safety, but for some reason there is no protective bumper and crotch strap. Instead, the manufacturer added a soft baffle at the back, where the head rests, and a protective pad on the legs, which folds under the footrest when not needed. Together, they are designed to keep the baby in the seat so that he does not accidentally slip out, but the pad is made of thin mesh and can tear over time.
Not for off-road
Maclaren Quest ARC did some work on the wheels, making the rear wheels double and the front wheels single with straight locking. A good solution was the brake pedal on one rear wheel, which blocks both wheels at once — while walking, you will not cling to the brake with your feet. But the diameter of the wheels is small — 13 cm in front and behind, so it’s better not to drive off-road, as you will run into the slightest obstacles.
