Model overview based on user reviews
The Moulinex Yogurteo YG 2301 yogurt maker is a popular choice for those looking to make homemade yogurt, featuring glass jars, an auto timer, and a digital display. Users appreciate its stylish design and ease of use, with many finding it effective for creating tasty and healthy yogurt. However, a significant number of reviews highlight a common issue of overheating, which can lead to a sour taste and potentially kill beneficial bacteria. Some users have found workarounds, such as reducing the fermentation time or using liners to manage the temperature. Despite these challenges, many users are satisfied with the product's performance, especially when using high-quality milk and starter cultures. The automatic shut-off feature is praised, but the lack of a temperature sensor is a noted drawback. Overall, while the yogurt maker has its flaws, it remains a favored option for those willing to experiment and adjust to its quirks.

For tasty and healthy breakfasts
23 March 2019
I used to think that a yogurt maker was something unnecessary in the kitchen since you can always buy yogurt at the store, and making it yourself is probably complicated, plus it's for those who fuss over diets, etc. We received this model as a gift, so I had to figure out what goes where. It turns out making homemade yogurt is quite simple and cheap. You buy the starter culture-bacteria at the pharmacy once, and then you can just keep one jar of ready-made yogurt as a starter for the next batches, only purchasing milk. It ends up being tasty and healthy, especially if you add homemade jam or preserves. Personally, I do it like this: 900 ml of milk (a standard package) is just enough for all the jars if you fill them about 3/4 full, then I set them in the yogurt maker, set it for 6 hours, and go to sleep. In the morning, everything is ready, and it turns off automatically. In the remaining jar volume, I add jam. You get excellent natural yogurt for every day.
Simple and easy to use, the jars are easy to clean, and the lids have a scale with numbers from 1 to 31 for setting the preparation date.

Bad technique.

Do not recommend.
A friend recommended it, I bought this model, did it twice, and was satisfied. Tasty and healthy.
The subsequent 4 times didn't work out, overheating, getting a sour taste above 48 degrees, no matter how I did it. I returned it to the service center, where they did diagnostics and said that the heating element needed to be ordered. We returned it to the store. A friend has the previous model, the same issues, although it was in use a bit longer. Other acquaintances say it seems to work fine, but maybe not for long. I'm dissatisfied with the yogurt maker for this price. I'm making yogurt in a thermos now, and it's working out. Maybe it just depends on the luck with the model, there's a lot of defects nowadays.

Yes, it’s true that 90% write about the shortcomings, but, probably, if I had known about them in advance, I would have chosen a different model... I envy my friends who saved money, and their cheap yogurt makers work perfectly and without complaints...
Among the advantages is a timer with automatic shutdown.
At first everything was ok, but from the second week it began to overheat, and specifically. We are now making yogurt for 6 hours, by this time the temperature of the product is 42 degrees, by 8 o’clock the thermometer is going off scale. I tried to make Narine, according to the instructions for the starter, it is aged for 12 hours - after the time is up, the jars are so hot that it hurts to take them in your hand. I practically don’t see the point in continuing to use it.

Complex Composite Lid

The automatic electric yogurt maker Moulinex Yogurteo YG 230 from the well-known French manufacturer offers its own concept for making a healthy product. Unlike most similar models, a composite lid made of 2 parts is used here, which fully covers the jars almost over their entire height. This is explained by the fact that the device body has low sides. To prepare for operation, first, you need to install 7 jars with a capacity of 140 ml each, cover them with the main lid, and then place the auxiliary lid with a handle on top. This strange design has an obvious advantage due to the convenience of storing jar lids on the flat surface of the main lid-spacer.

Imperfect Heating

The appliance's lids are equipped with an indicator window for marking the "expiration date" of the finished product using a rotary digital disk. Contrary to concerns about insufficient power, which is 13 W for this model, the built-in heating element heats well and even too much, which may cause overheating and result in a sour product during the standard 8-hour cycle. Considering this feature, we recommend reducing the milk fermentation time by 1–2 hours. The model is equipped with an electronic control panel with a digital display and 2 buttons: power on/off and cycle time programming. The device has a built-in timer for 15 hours with functions to notify the end of the cycle and automatic shut-off. To satisfy aestheticians, the yogurt maker is available in 3 color options: silver, red, and brown body.
