Model overview based on user reviews
The Panasonic HC-V770 camcorder offers a range of features that make it a strong contender in its price range. It supports 1080p FHD video with a 20x optical zoom and optical stabilization, ensuring smooth and clear footage. Users appreciate its compact size and the ability to power it via an external battery, which is convenient for extended shooting sessions. However, some users have noted issues with the lens blurring at the edges, which can be problematic for high-quality content creation. The camcorder records sound in AAC format, which may require transcoding for certain editing workflows. The touch screen sensitivity and battery life are also points of concern, though the latter can be mitigated with an external power source. Despite these drawbacks, the HC-V770 is praised for its video quality and stabilization, making it a worthwhile option for those seeking a budget-friendly camcorder.

The optics blur at the edges. This is not Leica.

Could have been better, but...
Honest 1080p FHD. Optical stabilization. 20x optical zoom. Good automatic WB. Macro at a high level. Ability to switch to 60 fps. Manual settings. Compact size. Ergonomics. Ability to work from a power bank. Night LED illumination.
Lens. Almost all Panasonic lenses (not to be confused with Leica models) noticeably blur at the edges. Either on the right (which is more common) or on the left. When shooting home video, this isn't critical, but if you plan to create high-quality content, it is unacceptable. This is related to the quality of the glass in the lenses themselves. Generally, Panasonic lenses are made from glass scraps. Mostly, we receive such rejects. Very rarely does someone get lucky and find quality glass. Leica lenses are made by themselves, and such problems do not exist there. And a small drawback: almost all cameras in this segment already have IR illumination, but not in this camera. Unfortunately.
Top of the range inexpensive.

The camera writes 1080p50 50Mbps. Well, who will now shoot on SLRs with their miserable 25 frames and a weak bitrate, and Sony900 competitors have problems with autofocus and are twice as expensive, canon legria hf g30 and 40 but they are three and four times more expensive at the same possibilities. 4k, household ones have not yet grown to 50 frames, and I don’t really want to look at the movements of robots.
1. It is possible to power directly from an external portable battery (power bank) using wiring, and a regular battery of 5 thousand costs against an external 1500 rubles (in volume, like 5 regular batteries in its pocket). mostly in mnl mode and it turned out a bit dark and the contrasts are not very good, probably only when walking now it’s worth using mnl mode. mts remains the ability to record 5.1 but, as in previous models, with a maximum bitrate of 28.
I would like to record 5.1 sound in mp4, although it is not really necessary.
It all depends on your goals - what you are shooting. And for this, look at the pros and cons

For the price range up to 30,000 rubles, this is the best option. However, depending on the tasks, there are also significant drawbacks. I mainly shoot concerts on stage, using tripods. With three cameras: Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder, Panasonic HC-V770, and Canon EOS 6D camera (lenses Canon EF 24-105mm f4.0 L IS USM and Tamron SP AF 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6 Di VC USD). I record sound with a ZOOM4 recorder. I only use autofocus and autoexposure. Now I want to buy another inexpensive camera (for the purpose: shooting at a fixed long focus). The Panasonic HC-V770 is almost suitable, except for one thing: it records sound in AAC format (not PCM). I’m not sure yet what to decide on.
small size – easy to carry in a pocket if needed. Hardly noticeable in hand (when necessary)
1. The desired zoom position is not saved when turned off: upon reactivation, it is in the state of maximum angle.
2. The sound is recorded in AAC format (instead of PCM). Therefore, if you record audio separately on a recorder and then synchronize (e.g., using Pluraleyes plugin) with the camera video, after synchronization, the video does not load into the video editor (e.g., Edius).
3. You have to transcode first, which is very inconvenient (especially when there are many files).
4. It does not record a long file - the recording is split into chunks of 4.185 GB.
5. Weak sensitivity of the touch screen.
6. Low-capacity battery - lasts for an hour (but the problem is easily solved with an inexpensive external battery).
7. No viewfinder. In bright sunlight, you can't do without it (nothing is visible on the monitor).
8. Clumsy (incomprehensible) control of many functions through the display. Even the Menu itself has to be pulled out - it is not constantly on the monitor.
