Signature backlight
Like many Philips TVs, the 2020 model received Ambilight branded backlighting. So, on three sides around the perimeter of a 75-inch TV there are LEDs that project a background image from behind, and in the same tones as the picture on the screen at the current moment.
Thanks to this feature, the Philips 75PUS7805 is easy to distinguish from its peers, although otherwise its design is in line with modern trends: a dark body colour, small frames and legs that are not far apart from each other.
Powerful processor
The TV matrix supports Ultra HD 4K and has a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The P5 Perfect Picture Engine helps with image processing. It will allow you to count on a smooth video sequence (with a “improver” of 1700 PPI) and a high level of detail (performs Upscaling). According to the manufacturer, such a tandem can bring to the screen all the advantages of the broadcast video, including high brightness and contrast, good colour depth. The picture really looks as natural and believable as possible, since any shades are transmitted accurately and without additional settings.
Popular HDR formats
Importantly, the Philips 75PUS7805 is compatible with all key HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Related content in games and movies will look even more realistic and impressive.
Sound quality is also promised to match the picture, including through support for the Dolby Atmos audio format. Although standard 2-channel 20W speakers are unlikely to satisfy the most demanding audiophiles.
Convenient management
Together with the TV there is a multimedia air gun with a gyroscope, which makes it easy to control the cursor on the screen. It is complemented by voice commands and a full-fledged Amazon Alexa assistant, which performs more complex tasks given by voice.
The proprietary OS Saphi is used as a "smart" shell. It has some of the hottest media services built into it, including YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video, but overall it falls short of its main competitors in terms of default offerings and installation. Also, the disadvantages of the model include Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n): its capabilities are only enough for Full HD streaming, that is, a wired connection is required for 4K.
Philips 75PUS7805 is an interesting competitor to the Korean leaders for a reasonable price, which offers branded backlighting, multi-format, and convenient control.
