Roland Cube 10GX

Musical instruments and software from the Japanese company Roland are in high demand all over the world. The Cube 10GX combo modeling amp is the perfect companion for your electric guitar at home.

Just in moderation

The cabinet is compact (317x346x179 mm) and light (5 kg), but has a thick-walled MDF body with corner protection, and excellent assembly — almost a monolith. The 8" speaker is protected by a silver-coloured metal grille with a slightly oversized Cube logo. The controls are located on top, but behind the handle, and not in front.

Solid simplicity

The power of 10 W is enough for comfortable playing at home, or alone in the studio. In addition to the 3-band EQ, there are volume and gain controls and one overall control for delay, reverb, chorus and spring. Three channels are implemented: Clean, Crunch and Lead with a very decent sound, in addition, the channels can be reprogrammed using the CUBE KIT application for iOS and Android and numerous amplifiers can be downloaded, including those for bass and acoustic guitar.

According to the connectors, everything is standard, although poor by today's standards. There are Phones / Rec out (stereo mini-Jack) for connecting headphones and a PC, Aux in instrumental and that's it. No USB and built-in tuners. But everything is simple and intuitive, and most importantly, it sounds great.

The Cube 10GX may not boast of loudness, but it has a good solid, almost tube-like sound and excellent performance. However for the same money ($170) you can get a more powerful and functionally richer model, for example, the Line 6 Spider V 20, but there is hardly anything cheaper and better than the Roland Cube in the class of 10-padded jackets.
